Ibrahim Abba Umar, a Personal Assistant to former Governor of Borno State and Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, has been appointed as the new Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
SHIPS & PORTS reported exclusively on April 24 that Umar had been appointed into the position to replace Professor Idris Abubakar.
NPA confirmed Umar’s appointment and resumption in a tweet yesterday.
“The Executive Management, led by the Managing Director,
@MohdBelloKoko welcomes the newly appointed Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services, Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar.
“Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the London Metropolitan University. MSc in Computing from Birmingham City University and is a member of COREN, NSE, and IET.
“Engr. Ibrahim brings onboard a sound knowledge of automation and artificial intelligence,” NPA tweeted.
Umar joins a rapidly growing horde of political cronies imposed on NPA and other “lucrative” maritime agencies by politicians.
