The Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), said on Wednesday in Lagos that its members would start loading petroleum products from Apapa jetty today for supply to filling stations in Lagos.
The cut in supply had resulted to long queues in many filling stations within Lagos metropolis.
Mr Obafemi Olawore, Executive Secretary, MOMAN, gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), while reacting to the queues at filling stations.
Olawore said that the queue was due to some operational checks on a petrol vessel at the Apapa jetty which he said has been cleared.
He assured that the queues in most retail outlets would start easing off immediately they receive suppliers.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in a statement by Mr Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, attributed the queues at petrol stations in Lagos to road construction gridlock.
The statement quoted Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) of having over 32-day petrol sufficiency, adding that additional 17 petrol vessels had arrived Lagos and Port Harcourt ports.
It also advised marketers to desist from hoarding or diverting petroleum products as any marketer caught would be sanctioned.
