A 31-year-old man, identified as Rotimi Adisa, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N2.7m vehicles with assorted goods in Lagos.
Adisa is facing one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyobosa Onaiwu told the court that the defendant committed the offence in August 2018.
“The defendant stole one Ford Galaxy Bus valued at N1.2 million and Ford Mavrice Jeep valued at N1.5 million with some assorted goods valued at N400,000. All total value at N3.1 million, property of one Ashamu Adeleke,” Onaiwu said.
According to her, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till April 4, 2019 for mention.
