A 31-year-old man, Yusuf Iyoda has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a Police Inspector, Joseph Monday attached to Apapa Ports Police Divisional Headquarters.
Iyoda pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of obstruction and assault.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Alexander Esebamen told the court that defendant committed the offence on August 9, 2017 at about 3:30pm at Eleganza Round-about.
He added that Iyoda obstructed the Police Inspector, Joseph Monday while on execution of his lawful duties.
He allegedly assaulted the inspector by using a Heineken beer bottle to stab him on his forehead, which caused deep injury.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened sections 112, 174(b) and 173 of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr Temitope Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Babalola adjourned the case till September 18, 2017.
