A 38-year-old man, identified as Osita Nwakwesili, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a truck injector and other items belonging to one Jamiu Lawal.
Nwakwesili is facing a one-count charge bordering on stealing.
The prosecutor, Marvelous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 17, 2018 at No 95, Mba Street, Ajegunle.
“The defendant stole one truck injector valued at N240,000, beer valued at N120,000 and cash sum of N66,000. All properties of one Jamiu Lawal,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate K. A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Ariyo said one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant.
She adjourned the case till November 8, 2018 for mention.
