Man docked for spying importer’s residence

India arrests Nigerian, four others with 120g of drug

 

A 25-year-old man, Agbale Osebhahiemen Emmanuel, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly spying the residence of an importer.

Emmanuel is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and illegal spying. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 4, 2020 at about 1:30pm at Diiamond Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by invading the privacy and spying into the premises of one Chief Sunny Ogbide with intent to survey the area for attack,” Bassey said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 97 and 21 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Tiamiyu Owoyemi granted the defendant bail in the sum N50,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till January 16, 2020 for mention.
