Man docked for stealing iron tank in Apapa

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 19-year-old man, Abiola Ibrahim, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one big iron tank in Apapa.

Ibrahim is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 1, 2020 at about 6:30am at Swamp Street, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one big iron tank valued at N120,000 property of Don Clamax Terminal,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Taiwo Popoola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till January 14, 2020 for trial.
