A 24-year-old man, Ikechukwu Ogba, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N200,000 Bajaj motorcycle at Ajeromi Police Station.
Ogba is facing a one-count charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 10, 2020 at about 1:35am at Ajeromi Police Station, Ajegunle.
“The defendant unlawfully stole one Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KJA 562 QM valued at N200,000 property of one Ali Ibeabuchi,” Ekpo said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a pastor while the other must be a blood relative to the defendant.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. He adjourned the matter till March 4, 2020 for mention.
