The police on Thursday arraigned one Solomon Wachukwu (26) and Sani Mohammed (55) before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two inverter batteries in Lagos.
Wachukwu and Mohammed are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbongha told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 9, 2019 at about 5pm at Happiness International Limited located at Ago Palace Way, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal two inverter batteries valued at N240,000 properties of one Happiness International Limited,” Ogbongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The sureties must be blood relations to the defendants.
She adjourned the case till March 21, 2019 for mention.
