Man pleads guilty to stealing N158,000 in Apapa

A 25-year-old man, identified as Lucky Ekpeyong, who was arraigned on Thursday before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N158,000 and other items, has pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 10, 2019 at No 10, Olofin Road, Apapa. 

“The defendant stole the sum of N158,000, an ATM card of United Bank for Africa – UBA, voter’s card and deposit slips belonging to one Mrs Ogechi Omafu,” Salami said. 

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Rasheedat Williams-Isichei adjourned the case till December 16, 2019 for facts and sentence.
