3 docked in Apapa for stealing N1.35m light

Three men, Ugochukwu Chisom (25), Chinedu Kyrian (24) and Mozie Bright (25), were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing three cartons of chandelier light worth N1,350,000 in Lagos

The trio is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 30, 2020 at about 8pm at 4th Avenue Festac, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired together with others at large to burgle into the house of one Felix Oguezuonu and stole three cartons of chandelier light valued at N1,350,000,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 307(2) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate B.M Amore granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till March 31, 2020 for mention.
