Man docked for stealing N1.6m bus in Apapa

A 26-year-old man, identified as Wasiu Ambali, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Volkswagen Vanagon bus valued at N1.6 million in Apapa.

Ambali is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 23, 2019 at about 5am at Gaskiya Road, Badia, Apapa.

“The defendant stole one Volkswagen Vanagon bus with registration number KRD 525 XU valued at N1.6 million only property of one Lukman Lawal,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Jimoh Adefioye granted him N500,000 bail with two reliable sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till September 23, 2019 for mention.
