A 30-year-old truck driver, Abdullahi Zubairu, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one DAF truck worth N5 million and one 1x40ft container valued at N1 million at Apapa. 

Zubairu is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 1, 2019 at about 9pm at Apapa Wharf. 

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one DAF truck with registration number XS 886 FKJ valued at N5 million property of one Abdullahi Yahaya and 1x40ft container number MRKU 4495663 valued at N1 million property of Maersk Line,” Onaiwu said. 

According to the prosecutor, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. 

Magistrate O.S Abioye granted Zubairu bail in the sum of N20,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The sureties must be gainfully employed and must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. 

He adjourned the case till January 13, 2020 for mention.
