Police arraign teenager for stealing N.6m, phone in Apapa

The police on Tuesday arraigned an 18-year-old, Chinonso Ewulu before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N600,000 and a mobile telephone handset in Apapa.

Ewulu is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 10, 2019 at about 1pm at No 54, Goriola Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one Infinix handset valued at N45,000 with actual violence on one Barileela Tobasi,” Asu said.

The prosecutor also said that the defendant stole the sum of N600,000 from an FCMB account number 3311631012 of one Barileela Tobasi.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 299, 297 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate M.O Olubi remanded the defendant in prison pending the advice of te Director of Public Prosecution.

He adjourned the matter till March 25, 2019 for mention.
