An Apapa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday sentenced a 38-year-old man, Mohammed Auwal, to two months in prison for assaulting an alleged drug peddler.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the accused committed the offences on August 24, 2019 between 9pm and 3:44am at Abule-Ado.

“The accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by leaving his residential address at Alaba Rago along Lagos/Badary Expressway to Abule-Ado to join others at large, having received phone call from one Friday surname unknown to come and fight one Chimezie Omugor who was caught with substance suspected to cocain,” Aigbokhan said.

The prosecutor also said that the accused assaulted Omugor by giving him fist blows all over his body which caused him internal body pain.

Auwal pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko sentenced him to two months in prison or 96 hours of community service.
