Man docked for assaulting motorboy in Apapa

A 35-year-old man, Ifeanyichukwu Innocent, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting one motorboy at Olodi-Apapa.

Innocent is facing a two-count charge of felony and assault. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 14, 2019 at about 9:30pm at No 19, Oyebo Street, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant unlawfully threatened the peace of his neighbourhood with plank and with intent commits felony.

“He assaulted one Michael Temple Ejike by hitting him with a plank twice on his right arm which caused him fraction the bone,” Babatope said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 56 (a)(2) and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate R.E Ojudun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till March 17, 2020 for mention.
