A 30-year-old man, Kabiru Ademola, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the parts of vehicle at Agboju area of Lagos.
Ademola is facing a one-count charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in December 2019 at about 1am at 1st School Gate, Mechanic Workshop, Agboju, Lagos.
“The defendant stole the following items; four vehicle batteries valued at N60,000, one alternator valued at N10,000, one vehicle seat valued at N20,000, one fuel speedometer hole valued at N15,000, air box valued at N10,000, brake master valued at N15,000. Total value of stolen items worth N148,000 properties of one Sunday Olasupo,” Bassey said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate F.J Adefioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety is required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till March 30, 2020 for mention.
