Man docked for stealing car battery at Kirikiri

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 24-year-old man, identified as Samuel Nwachukwu, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a car battery at Kirikiri.

Nwachukwu is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 6, 2018 at about 5:15pm along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Kirikiri.

“The defendant stole one motor battery valued at N45,000 property of one Femi Adelewa,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till October 2, 2018 for mention.
