A 32-year-old man, identified as Oliver Joseph Ikonne, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 45 pieces of Plasma Television in Apapa.
Ikonne is facing a one-count charge bordering on stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 25, 2018 at No 2, Oranya Street, GRA Apapa.
“The defendant stole 45 pieces of Plasma sharp television valued at N1,892,499.30 properties of one Prince Raphael Madugwa,” Asu said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The Investigative Police Officer (IPO) said the defendant was told to install the televisions in the complainant’s hotel but when to sell the televisions as scrap at Alaba Market.
Then defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate M.O Olubi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with 5 years tax clearance.
One of the sureties must be gainfully employed and must be of a managerial position.
He adjourned the case till February 4, 2019 for mention.
