Man gets N50,000 bail for assaulting motorboy

A 19-year-old man, Mobarack Bamgboye, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting one motorboy in Apapa.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 22, 2019 at about 6pm at New Road Roundabout, Amukoko, Apapa.

“The defendant unlawfully assaulted one Kadiri Waheed by using a wood to hit him on his right hand and head which caused him body pain,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offence is punishable under section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate B.M Amore granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

One of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendant.

He adjourned the case till February 13, 2019 for mention.
