A 30-year-old man identified as Zaiyana Abdullahi was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 35 bags of rice at the Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, Lagos.
Abdullahi is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 21, 2018 at about 3am at the terminal.
Balogun said, “The accused conspired with others to steal thirty five 50kg bags of BB Special quality parboiled rice valued N340,000 property of the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
According to him, the offences are punishable under section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Abdullahi pleaded guilty to the two-count charges against brought against him.
Chief Magistrate A.O Awogboro ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody until May 3, 2018 for facts and sentence.
