A 33-year-old man, Kendrick Oladamore Zinsu and a 20-year-old woman, Christabel Patrick, were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly attempting to rob Shoprite Mall.
Zinsu and Patrick are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 6, 2019 at about 7pm at Unity Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired together for attempted robbery by having the intent to mobilize gangsters and equip them with information, guns and bikes to rob Shoprite Mall, especially when they are conveying money with Bullion Van to the bank,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 298(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Fatima Shittabey granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
The sureties must be employees of reputable organisation.
She adjourned the case till July 23, 2019 for mention.
