A man identified as Saheed Adekeye is facing trial before Apapa Magistrates’ Court 5 over alleged stealing of salt from the Dangote Group in Apapa.
During the cross-examination, Inspector Rotimi Agboola told the court that the accused stole four bags of Dangote salt worth N150,000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecuting counsel had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offence in January 28, 2017 at about 5:30am at Eleganza roundabout, Apapa.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O Adegite adjourned the case till June 28, 2017 for continuation of trial.
In a related development, the trial of two wharf rats, Suleiman Dauda and Peter Uwaga, will continue at the Apapa Magistrates’ Court 1.
They were charged for allegedly stealing 68 bags of Dangote crude salt belonging to Dangote Nascon Company.
The prosecuting counsel had earlier told the court that the defendants committed the offence on October 28, 2016 at about 4:30am at Eleganza roundabout, Apapa.
The Chief Magistrate, Miss A.O Awogboro adjourned the case till June 14, 2017 for continuation of trial.
