Terminal operators have done well, must be retained by government, says MWUN leader

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has joined Christians around the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, whose selfless sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary redeemed humanity from sin.

In a goodwill message, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President-General of MWUN, admonished Christians in Nigeria and globally to reflect on the essence of Jesus’ birth during this Yuletide season. He emphasised that Christ is the reason for the season, and therefore, Christians should strive to emulate His virtues by showing love, kindness, and compassion to one another, regardless of their tribe, descent, color, or religious affiliations.

Adeyanju noted that Christmas is a season of giving, sharing, and showing mercy to those in need. He encouraged Christians to be more tolerant and accommodating, stressing that Christianity is a symbol of peace.

“As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us remember to show love and compassion to the needy in our society. Let us be our brother’s keeper at all times, for this is the true spirit of Christmas,” he said.

The MWUN President-General also extended the union’s goodwill and fellowship to its stakeholders in the maritime sector, including the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA),National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), and National Association of Stevedoring Companies (NASO).

Adeyanju wished Christians and all Nigerians a joyous Christmas and a happy New Year in advance, praying that the season would bring peace, joy, and prosperity to all.

“As we celebrate this festive season, let us not forget the lessons of love, humility, and selflessness that Jesus taught us. Let us strive to make a positive impact in our communities and workplaces, promoting peace, harmony, and understanding among all people,” he added.
