MMIA Customs Command generates N38.7bn in six months

Agents risk N5m fine, imprisonment for violations under new Customs law 

 

The Murtala Muhammed Internationa Airport (MMIA) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) collected N38.7 billion as revenue in the first six months of the year.

Customs Area Controller of the command, MS Yusuf made this known in a statement made available to SHIPS & PORTS.

He said the H1 2023 revenue was 11% higher than the amount collected in the corresponding period of 2022.

Yusuf said the enforcement unit of the command coordinated several anti-smuggling activities in synergy with other critical stakeholders which led to the seizure of 15 consignments of tramadol, dried shark fins and live turtle worth N27.8 bill
