Motorboy docked for assaulting truck driver

A 22-year-old motorboy, Tochukwu Ezeka, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly dealing several blows on the face of a truck driver.

Ezeka is facing one-count charge of assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Donny Raphael, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 27, 2019 at about 8pm at Maza-Maza Bus Stop, Lagos.

“The defendant unlawfully assaulted one Olofinlade Olufemi with his fist blows on his face which caused him bodily harm,” Raphael said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate R.E Ojudun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.

The surety, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government. 

He adjourned the case till May 13, 2019 for mention.
