National President, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Eugene Nweke, has called on the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to further sensitize port operators and other stakeholders on the use of the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR).
NCS is expected to take over full implementation of the destination inspection of cargoes into the country at the expiration of the extension period granted the three service providers next month.
Nweke who made the call in a chat with SHIPS& PORTS DAILY said that while NCS is working hard to ensure a smooth transition, many port operators are not adequately informed hence are not aware of the re- introduction of PAAR because according to him, there was no official handover transition manual.
“One of those things we insisted that they should make public is a handover transitional manual, but none has been made public and that is why some section of the stakeholders are still thinking perhaps there is a hidden agenda but I know the customs administration is working very hard in ensuring that they take over on a smooth ground,” he said.
Nweke added that the constant server breakdown of the NCS server operated by Web Fontaine will no longer be experienced when it takes over the scheme.
