The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Tin-Can Island Port Chapter has commended the Tin-Can Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT) for what it described as the terminal’s “magnanimity in granting waivers/incentives on long stay containers on the terminal.”
TICT had offered waiver incentives of 50% on storage charges for containers that have stayed between 181 days to 365 days and 75% on containers that have stayed above 365 days in the terminal.
The waiver, according to a public notice signed by the TICT management, applies only for storage charges on containers that have been in the terminal for 181 days and above as on 1st October 2013.
NAGAFF Tin-Can Island Port Chapter in a statement signed by its Secretary, Arthur Igwilo, lauded the gesture by TICT noting that it will go a long way in decongesting the port. “Not minding the huge revenue loss, TICT in obedience to the Federal Government directive on port decongestion efforts has taken this wonderful step,” Igwilo said.
