The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has officially inaugurated its 2014 electoral committee.
Members of the electoral commission were sworn into office yesterday in line with Section 66 of the NAGAFF constitution, with a mandate to come up with electoral guidelines and time table for the association’s elections next year.
The five-member electoral committee is made up of Okey Nerus as Chairman; Dipo Olayoku as Secretary; and Elder Donatus Oforma, Deaconess Kate Ogbahon and Barrister Henry Orarotimi as members.
National President of NAGAFF, Chief Eugene Nweke, said that the electoral commission is expected to use the occasion of the forthcoming NAGAFF Annual General Meeting (AGM) slated for December 6 2013 to brief the entire members of the association on the guidelines and timetable for the association’s general election coming up in the first quarter of 2014.
Nweke said that the electoral body is also expected to put together the election time-table in three phases to hold elections for the West, South-East and North zones of the association even as he charged them to ensure that the entire electioneering process is tidied up on or before 30th March 2013 to usher the elected executives into office by April 1 next year.
The committee chairman, Okey Nerus, on behalf of his members thanked the Board of Trustees and national executives of the association of the opportunity to serve and assured that his team will give its best in executing its brief.
“The task you have given us is a challenging one. The next four months will be the busiest ever for us because it is a serious assignment that we are going into considering what it takes to organize an election for an association like NAGAFF. I want to say that we will do it to the best of our ability and we believe that God will see us through with your collective support” Neru said.
