The takeover by the Nigeria Customs Service of implementation of the Destination Inspection Service Scheme has been so gladly received by the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) that the association has branded the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko inde Abdullahi, “face of New Nigeria”.
Founder of the association, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, in a press statement, said that all credence should be given to the Customs boss for the successful return of the responsibility of risk management and automation of physical examination of imports to the Nigeria Customs Service.
“We are all happy that today every responsibility has been returned to the Nigeria Customs Service after several years of hard struggle. We must honestly make mention of the hard fighting and amiable Comptroller General of Customs Alhaji Dikko Inde Abdullahi as the point man during the struggle” Aniebonam stated.
He further stated: “To us at the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Alhaji Dikko Inde Abdullahi is the face of New Nigeria as far as the transformation policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria is concerned, because it takes the heart of a tiger to withstand the various blackmail, name-calling, maligning and sometimes spiritual attacks this young man may have faced to secure the statutory functions of the Customs back to its originality. In summary Alhaji Dikko could be likened unto Nelson Mandela of South Africa during the country’s struggle for freedom”.
The NAGAFF founder however urged the NCS and other stakeholders in the industry not to rest on their oars as they “must now buckle up to avoid playing again into the hands of portfolio investors and world class business groups”.
