New Chinese terminal starts operation in Hubei

China’s new Honghuatao terminal has officially commenced operation at the Yidu port area of Yichang in Hubei province.

Invested by Hubei Transportation Investment Construction Group, the RMB480m ($68m) terminal project started construction in April 2017.

Hailed as the only green and intelligent port terminal at Yichang, Honghuatao terminal boosts one 3,000-tonne class multi-purpose berth, two 3,000-tonne class bulk cargo berths and one roro berth, with an annual handing capacity of 1.61m tonnes.

Yichang is one of the major river ports on the Yangtze river. The operation of Honghuatao terminal will be efficiently connect Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, and the regions along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze river.

The terminal will support Yichang’s development to be a regional transportation hub and to improve local cargo handling capacity.
