The Governing Council of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS) has announced the approval of the appointment of Mrs. Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike as its substantive Director General effective November 11, 2022.

The NCS was formed in 2003 with the primary objective of ensuring that the domestic shipping industry participates fully in all commercial services in the Nigerian Coastal waters and beyond.

Before her appointment, Mrs Chimezie-Azubuike was the Director of Operations and Administration of the chamber; a position she occupied since October 2020 upon the successful completion of the restructuring exercise.

With background in business management optimization, Chimezie-Azubuike had, prior to her re-joining the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping in 2020; served at various times as Director of Membership and Programmes and later rose to the position of Acting Director General at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC).

The new Director General expressed her appreciation to the NCS board for entrusting her with a higher responsibility and committed to uphold the confidence reposed on her as she works assiduously to take the Chamber to the next positive level in line with global best practices.
