The Chief Executive Officer, Equatorial Energy Company, Sola Adewumi, was on Thursday elected president of the Nigerian Shipowners Association (NISA).
He defeated Jegede Paul of Japaul Oil and Maritime Services Plc to emerge as the third president of the association.
Also Jublirl Olawale Rowaye was elected unopposed as the new Secretary General of the group.
Sammi Wor-degbeuwa, Mohammed Malik and Gbolahan Adu were elected Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Publicity Secretary respectively.
Speaking at the event, former President of the association, Chief Isaac Jolapamo expressed delight on the success of the election. He enjoined the new executives to work together “to fight the common enemy” of the association.
The new NISA president, Adewumi said he will work with other members to move the association forward.
“Plans are in place to reunite the shipowners in Nigeria and we need to speak with one voice,” he said.
