NIMASA DG Stresses Role of Engineering Professionals in Advancing Nigeria’s Blue Economy

Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dayo Mobereola, has underscored the pivotal role of professionalism in engineering practice as a cornerstone for Nigeria’s maritime and Blue Economy development.

Mobereola made this assertion while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by its President, Engineer Margaret Aina Oguntala, during a courtesy visit to NIMASA management in Lagos.

He highlighted the importance of engineering expertise in driving improvements in Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure and reaffirmed NIMASA’s commitment to closer collaboration with the NSE in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Blue Economy mandate.

In her remarks, Engr Oguntala expressed the NSE’s strong alignment with the Blue Economy initiative, noting that the Society’s vision complements government efforts to unlock opportunities in Nigeria’s marine and maritime sectors. She expressed optimism that strengthened cooperation between NSE and NIMASA would foster innovation, enhance infrastructure development, and support sustainable economic growth.

The meeting concluded with both parties pledging to deepen collaboration for the advancement of the maritime sector and Nigeria’s economy as a whole.
