NPA Begins Sale of Petroleum Products in Naira, Establishes One-Stop-Shop for Efficient Coordination

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has announced the commencement of sales of petroleum products in naira. He made the disclosure during an inter-agency meeting held at the NPA Headquarters in Lagos.

This initiative, according to Dantsoho, aligns with the Federal Government’s directive for the NPA to oversee and coordinate service provisions from all regulatory, security, and stakeholder agencies. He said the goal is to ensure the sale of crude oil and petroleum products to the Dangote Refinery in local currency.

“We are committed to collaborating and providing the necessary efficiencies to deliver on this national mandate of ensuring the availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and other petroleum products,” Dantsoho said.

He further explained the establishment of a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) within the NPA, which will streamline service provision by regulatory and security agencies to ensure a smooth implementation of this directive.

“This is in line with the Federal Government’s directive for the One-Stop-Shop to be housed within the Nigerian Ports Authority,” he added.

The OSS team is composed of representatives from the NPA, Nigerian Navy, NNPC Limited, Dangote Group, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Ms. Maureen Ogbonna, a senior official from the NPA’s Marine & Operations Directorate, has been appointed as the focal person for this initiative.
