NPA, Shippers Council, others get new Boards

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Boards of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Transportation. 

Akinwunmi Ricketts, who served briefly as Board Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in 2020 returns to the position. He replaces Engr. Olajide Adesoye. Ricketts is a close ally of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. 

Also, Rear Adm. Jacob Adekunle Ajani was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron while Lawal Sama’ila Abdullahi and Sen. Binta Masi Garba were appointed to chair the Boards of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) respectively. 

Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Transport, Eric Ojiekwe, released the full list of the new Board members in Abuja on Thursday. 

The Board members are as follows:

Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) 

  1. Lawal Sama’ila Abdullahi – Chairman
  2. Rufai Ahmed Akambi – Member
  3. Usen Ekong Udoh – Member
  4. Otunba Oluseyi Oduntan – Member
  5. Violet Oliatan Williams – Member
  6. Mohammed Allamin Kam-Salem – Member
  7. Emmanuel Lyambee Jime – Executive Secretary/CEO

Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT)

  1. Ejike Njeze – Chairman
  2. Amuda Seriki – Member
  3. Muhiydeen Sani Awwal – Member
  4. Paul Eluhaiwe – Member
  5. Gbenga Elegbele – Member
  6. Tutare Abubakar – Member
  7. Bayaro S. Farah – Director-General/CEO

Maritime Academy of Nigeria, (MAN, Oron)

  1. Rear Adm. Jacob Adekunle Ajani – Chairman
  2. Abdullah Nurudeen – Member
  3. Larry Odeh – Member

National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA)

Ojiekwe said a date will be announced for the inauguration of the new parastatal boards by the ministry.
