NSC pledges support for small, medium scale enterprises

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has pledged to and boost the activities of small and medium scale enterprises in the country.
Acting Executive Secretary of the Council, Mallam Hassan Bello, made the pledge last weekend during a courtesy visit by the members of the Association of Leather and Allied Industrialists of Nigeria, Lagos State Branch.
Bello stated that, when small businesses are enhanced, it will help create job opportunities, giving Nigeria a competitive edge over other countries.

“Nigeria should have a competitive edge and this kind of meeting will help stimulate not only the association but the economy. This industry just like other small and medium scale industries generate revenue and employment. So we can’t toil with this kind of industry. These are basic things we should be proud of which we should enhance,” he said.
He promised that the NSC will assist the association in the area of shipment, so that the members will enjoy a boost.
“The Federal Government is now refocused on the non oil export and small and medium scale industries because they are hinge on the transformation agenda of the government. We must support the local industries so that we can have advantages over other countries in certain sectors,” he said.
Bello called on other small businesses to freely approach the Council if they have complaints or problems relating to shipping.
Earlier in his address, association’s Lagos State Branch Chairman, Mr. Chinonso Ememchukwu, solicited for the support of the NSC in making the export of the members’ products more effective.
Testifying to the quality of the products, Ememchukwu said that they are durable.
