Obama informs U.S. Congress of plan to sell two warships to Taiwan

The US State Department informed Congress Wednesday of a proposed sale of two warships to Taiwan as part of a $1.8 billion arms deal already angrily denounced by China.

“Today, the administration notified Congress of a $1.83 billion defensive arms sale package for Taiwan,” David McKeeby, a State Department spokesman said, adding that the package included two frigates.
