A former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Dr. Olu Onagoruwa, is dead.
According to reports, he died early in the early hours of Friday. He was 80-years-old.
Onagoruwa was appointed Attorney-General and Minister of Justice in 1993 and was also appointed the African representative to the body that drafted Ethiopia’s constitution the same year.
He was the Group Legal Adviser/Company Secretary of Daily Times Nigeria for several years.
A Principal Partner of Dr Oluonagoruwa Chambers, he was born in Ogun State, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1971.
Onagoruwa studied Law at the University of London where he obtained his LL.B; LL.M and PhD degrees before returning to the country, where he attended the Nigerian Law School.
He wrote several books and has to his credit over 250 published articles.
His core practice areas included constitutional law, legislative matters, banking and insolvency, oil and gas, telecommunication law and litigation.
