A 46-year-old pastor, Abukun Moses and a 35-year-old woman, Ogechi Ogbaje, were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for allegedly damaging the body and colour of one Porsche Cayenne car with salt.
The defendants are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful damage and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on June 30, 2019 at about 2:30am at Peter Memessi, Satellite Town, Lagos.
“The defendants willfully and unlawfully destroyed the body and colour of one Porsche Cayenne vehicle with registration number AKD 636 FJ valued at N120,000 and one Volkswagen vehicle with registration number MUS 249 FA valued at N120,000 by spreading salt all over the body of the vehicles, property of one Ifeanyi Andrew Jude,” Ekpo said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 350 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Adegboyega Popoola granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two reliable sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till August 1, 2019 for mention.
