PCC wants trucks to operate at night

The Chairman, Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC), Otunba Kunle Folarin, has advocated the need for the Federal Government to ensure that heavy-duty trucks operate only at night on Nigerian roads.

He also called for the total rehabilitation of all roads linking the nation’s seaports in order to prevent trucks carrying containers from falling off and killing innocent people.

He further said  the roads linking the port in Apapa, Lagos and Onne roads, in Port Harcourt, Rivers states should be  repaired.

According to him, the port corridors in both states have been stressed beyond their designed capacity, adding there was the need to regulate the quality of trucks, used to freight cargoes at the ports to avoid frequent vehicular breakdowns in the course of cargo delivery.
