One week after a tanker carrying fuel exploded on the Otedola Bridge in the Berger area of Lagos killing 12 people and destroying 54 vehicles, another petrol tanker was seen spilling fuel on Ipaja road, also in Lagos.
The incident which occurred on Moshalashi Bus stop/roundabout Ipaja, happened in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who pleaded anonymity, the driver was forced to stop. ” The tanker driver refused to stop initially, we had to force him to stop the vehicle”.
Officials of the Lagos Neighborhood and Security Corps (LNSC), LASTMA, Lagos Response Unit (LRU), Nigerian Police and Lagos State Fire Service are currently on ground, waiting for the content to be trans loaded to another vehicle before final evacuation of the damaged tanker.
