Pirates hijack boat with 12 in Rivers 

Pirates kidnap 20 Indians, spare Nigerian seafarer off Togo

 

No fewer than 12 passengers travelling from Port Harcourt to Bakana in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State were reportedly hijacked on Monday by sea pirates.

The passengers, however, said to have been rescued shortly after the hijack. 

The passenger boat left Port Harcourt to Bakana about 11 am but was attacked at an area called Cawthorne Channel.

The Port Harcourt-Bakana beach mistress, Madam Asikiye Bobmanuel who confirmed the incident, said seafarers in the area need government protection.
