A 39-year-old woman, identified as Folashade Adio and four men namely Stephen Chukwuka (43), Henry William (35), Mosdam Moses (26) and Samuel Ayanshola Oluwafisayo (34), were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attempting to steal 40,000 litres at a depot in Lagos.
The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and an attempt to steal.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 21, 2019 at about 7pm at A.A Rano depot, Satellite Town, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired together in attempting to steal 40,000 litres of AGO property of A.A Rano Nigeria Limited,” Ogbongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 406 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till April 15, 2019 for mention.
