The police on Monday arraigned one Ahmed Usman (27) before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for alleged murder and armed robbery attack at Ajegunle area of Lagos State.
Usman is facing a six-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, assault, threatening violence and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 28, 2019 at about 8:30pm at Opaleye Street, Ajegunle area, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to arm themselves with gun, knife, cutlasses and other offensive weapons to rob on Tecno phone valued at N7,500, three sewing machines valued at N55,000 properties of one Ahmed Arowolo.
“The defendant murdered one Faruq Hakeem by using two locally made pistol, one single and one double barrel short guns,” Babatope said.
The prosecutor added that the defendant inflicted wounds on one Ahmed Arowolo on his forehead and left fingers and also threatened violence. He also reportedly conducted himself in a disorderly manner on the street which he could not give account of his mission.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 297 (1)(2), 246 (a)(b), 223 (2a &b), 56 (1a)(2b) and 168 (a)(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Olukayode Kadiri ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice, while the defendant to be remanded for 30 days.
He adjourned the case till December 16, 2019
