Police arraign ‘notorious’ robbers in Apapa

15 Nigerians arrested in Malaysia for fraud 

 

The police on Thursday arraigned two men, Tunde Raphael (24) and Ikenna George (27), before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly being notorious in robbing people of their personal effects in Apapa.

The duo is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

The prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ejembi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 20, 2019 at about 11pm at Mile 2 area of Satellite Town, Apapa, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired with others at large to always engage themselves in robbing people of their belongings within the area,” Ejembi said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 298 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

Magistrate Ayisha Grillo rejected their bail plea. She instead ordered the prosecutor to send the duplicate of the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

She adjourned the matter till October 14, 2019 for mention.
