Three men namely Emeka Uluogbam (53), Omeghene Samuel (31) and Henry Agu (38) were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 70,000 litres of diesel belonging to WEBECO Petroleum Nigeria Ltd.
The three men are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ekundayo Gabriel told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 30, 2018 at No 29, Creek Road, Apapa.
He said, “The defendants stole 70,000 litres of AGO valued N1.4 million property of WEBECO Petroleum Nigeria Ltd.”
According to him, the offences are punishable under Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The defendants however pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.
The Chief Magistrate, A.O Awogboro granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, she said, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government. One of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendants and their residential addresses must be verified.
She adjourned the case till May 2, 2018 for mention.
