The Inspector-General (IG) of Police, Solomon Arase has asked the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) to conduct elections into its Governing Council within two months.
The IG said this on Thursday in a meeting he held with the ?warring freight forwarding associations registered with CRFFN.
In a statement made available to Ships & Ports Daily, the National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Kayode Farinto, said the IGP promised to explore Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The statement also said the IG directed an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Adeola Adeleke Adeniji to forthwith take charge of the case.
According to the statement, all freight forwarding associations were directed to pay their dues to CRFFN in order to fund the election of the Governing Council.
The statement reads, “After accusations and counter accusations it was agreed that there can’t be CRFFN without a Governing Council.
“Also, elections should be conducted within two months and all associations, members and freight forwarders are to pay their annual subscription which would be used to fund the election.
“We also agreed there that POF collection should be suspended.”
