POTEMAN partners Shepherd University, Benin Republic

The Ports and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria (POTEMAN) has partnered a Benin Republic based university; Shepherd University.

The partnership, according to the Registrar of POTEMAN, Dr. Babatunde Samuel is to help his academy in issuing Bachelor of Science Degrees in Logistics and Transport.

The Registrar said that the collaboration was necessary because most employers of labor in the Shipping and Maritime sector are interested in employing graduates to work in their organization.

 

“We have gotten a little franchise and collaborative system with a university in Benin Republic called Shepherd University for BSc Conversion, because as far as this industry is concerned, most employers of labor are looking forward to BSc holders?.

 

“So we are working out modalities in terms of BSc logistics and transport in this regard. I believe at the end of the day we should synergize on this,” he said.

 

?Speaking on the Continuous Mandatory Training Workshop of the academy, he said the programme is to update fellows and members of the academy on the latest issues as far as port and terminal management is concerned and to interface with one another.

 

The programme was attended by fellows and members of POTEMAN from Port Harcout, Onne? and Lagos.

 

“This programme was also crowned by the fact that we are also doing what we call; Young, Professional, Port and Terminal Competition where we have four topics we ask students to write on – one of the topics is port congestion.”

 

He disclosed that the continuous mandatory programme comes up two times a year. “This is the Western Zone.” He added that POTEMAN is
