Festus Okun

The PTML Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service said it collected the sum of N224.47 billion as revenue in 2021.

Briefing journalists at the command in Lagos on Tuesday, the Customs Area Controller, Festus Okun said the amount represents an increase of 19% over that of 2020.

Okun said the command handled 199,487 metric tons of exports, with a total Free on Board (FOB) value of N132.45 billion.

He said in the area of anti-smuggling activities, the command seized four containers found to contain various contrabands including rice, vegetable oil, vehicles and pharmaceutical products, among others.

The seized goods, according to him, were worth N55.53 million.

“The seizures were effected because the importations were done in contravention of extant laws,” he said.
